Day 46

I am without a camera, but didn't want to skip a day of the 100 day challenge:) So, here is a shot of my kids in their "Smoker" (as in smoking meat) T-shirts with the handy computer cam. Doug has been working real hard on a big auction event for the last several months and was very pleased with how well it all turned out. This event included two full days of car auctions and a boxing event at the Boise Center on the Grove. It was fun to see it all come together so well but I am glad it is over!!!! Maybe I will get to see a little bit more of him.

Day 45

"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."
-George Bernard Shaw

Day 44

Therefore, whoso heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock-
And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and
beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.
3 Nephi 14:24-25

Boise Train Depot

On Friday night, we went down to the Train Depot and took some pictures of the kids. Here are a few of my favorites.

I love this one of Mitchie. Doug took this one and felt lucky to have caught him holding still and looking back at us!

I can't believe how fast my family is growing!!

Day 43

I love old barns and farm houses. I am fascinated by them. I try to imagine the life that they held and the hard working hands that lived there. If only these old homes could speak, the stories they could tell. I have passed this old house many times on my morning run, this morning I went back to snap a picture.

Day 42

Little lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee,
Gave thee life, and bade thee feed
By the stream and o're the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, wooly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?

Little lamb, I'll tell thee;
Little lamb, I'll tell thee:
He is called by thy  name,
For He calls Himself a lamb,
He is meek, and He is mild,
He became a little child;
I a child, and thee a Lamb,
We are called by His Name.
Little lamb, God bless thee!
Little lamb, God bless thee!
-William Blake

-George Washington Carver

Day 38

"The scriptures make the danger of delay clear. It is that we may discover that we have run out of time. The God who gives us each day as a treasure will require an accounting. We will weep, and He will weep, if we have intended to repent and to serve Him in tomorrows which never came or have dreamt of yesterdays where the opportunity to act was past. This day is a precious gift of God. The thought "Someday I will" can be a thief of the opportunities of time and the blessings of eternity."  -President Henry B. Eyring

"And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed."  -Alma 34:33-34

One of his many endearing traits.

cow.lick |.kou,lik|
noun
a lock of hair that grows in a direction
different from the rest and that
resists being combed flat: a little
sprig of cowlick stood up on the
top of his head.

Day 27

"Thou shalt not be idle," the Lord said. Idleness is of the devil, and we are not kind to our children when we become affluent and take from them their labors, their opportunities to serve and to be trained and to do things for themselves and for others."
-Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball

Day 26

"A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future"

Tonight was Father's and Son's, so the girls and I had a "Girls Night." We kicked off the night by doing what girls do best. . . going out to eat! We ate at Costa Vida's for dinner, came back, turned on the tunes, pulled out the pictures and craft supplies and got busy scrapbooking. We visited about everything from embarrassing moments, memories from different pictures to puberty ( a hot topic in our home these days:) I enjoyed spending this time with my girls so much. They are growing up so fast and I am so pleased with their attitudes about life and the purity and sweetness in which they carry themselves.

The boys decided to camp out at home due to the colder weather we have been having and an early baseball game of Carter's in the morning.  Father and sweet Son's . . . I'll be marking my calendar and saving the date for next year:)

The countryside this evening after a beautiful rainfall. I love all the wide open spaces around me.

"Ironically, rural America has become viewed by a growing number of Americans as having a higher quality of life not because of what it has, but rather because of what it does not have!"

Day 21

This is definitely one of my favorite things about summer. Lately I have been buying two a week, and we really could consume more than that. We love watermelon!
